William graduated from James B Dudley High School. He then graduated from Winston-Salem State University with honors, where he also lettered in football. He then went on to earn a Master’s Degree at North Carolina A&T State University. He later attended Hood Theological Seminary, where he studied world religions. William also worked in Durham Public Schools, where he served as vice chair of the Durham County Library Board. William then went on to lecture at Clemson University in the School of Education. In his next career role, William was the National Director of the Ralph Bunche Society with the Phelps Stokes Fund. William traveled to Africa and Europe in 2007, where he lectured on Global Competency and diplomacy as part of a “goodwill” trip with the University of North Carolina system.
